What is #VUSA24

One field, one cause, 24 hours of momentum.

For 24 hours, Piley Rees Field comes alive with cycling, running, entertainment and community spirit, all in support of VUSA Rugby and Learning Academy. Teams keep 60 stationary bikes moving continuously throughout the event, with treadmills adding a running challenge alongside the cycling.

Around the main event, there is live entertainment, food vendors, children's activities, sponsor experiences, a Youth Chill Zone and a PlayStation Lounge. New for 2026, teams and supporters can also take part in a community potjie competition, and we screen the Springboks against New Zealand live on the field while the Cyclethon continues.

Every team member becomes a VUSA ambassador for the day. Every kilometre, cycling slot and donation helps VUSA provide learning support, sport, meals and psychosocial services to children in Langa.

Virgin Active classes, live bands, magicians and kids' entertainment, plus the Chill Zone, pop up bar and food trucks. The potjie competition and the Springboks vs New Zealand screening round out the day while the Cyclethon carries on behind them.

Our 12 hour challenge is for primary school teams and children aged 10 to 13. Teams of 12 cycle for 12 hours. Full details are on the primary school sign-up page.

How registration works

One form for the whole team.

Team leader registers

One person completes the registration form on behalf of the whole team. That's the only form your team needs.

We send your slot sheet

The team leader receives a Google Sheet to share with teammates and allocate cycling slots across the 24 hours.

03

Your fundraising page goes live

We create a BackaBuddy page for your team, with your photo or logo added if you'd like. Share it and start raising funds.

There is no team entry fee and no minimum fundraising requirement. We simply ask every cyclist to share their team's fundraising page and help raise as much as possible for VUSA. 100% of funds raised support VUSA's programmes in Langa.
