DigiBus
Taking digital learning directly to the children of Langa. Literacy, numeracy and digital learning in motion.
One lesson at a time
For many children growing up in Langa, access to computers, digital learning resources and extra academic support is limited. The Coronation DigiBus is helping to change that.
A purpose-built mobile digital classroom, equipped with 44 laptops and interactive teaching technology, the DigiBus travels to all five primary schools in Langa and brings quality educational programmes directly to learners during the school day.
Since 2022, the programme has supported children in developing their English, mathematics, coding and digital literacy skills, building the foundations for future learning.
Through our long-standing partnership with Coronation Fund Managers, we bring technology-enabled education to children who might otherwise have little opportunity to access it. In October 2026, the partnership began an exciting new chapter with the launch of a new, purpose-built DigiBus and Coronation's commitment to support the programme for a further ten years.
Building confidence in English at a critical stage
In South Africa, many children learn in their mother tongue for their first three years of school, then move to English as the main language of instruction in Grade 4.
For children with little exposure to English, this shift is hard. Suddenly they are expected not only to understand English, but to use it to learn Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Without a strong foundation, children can quickly fall behind.
Technology, teaching and individual support
Each programme combines interactive platforms with a dedicated team, so learning is engaging, accessible and paced to every child.
English Literacy
Learners work at their own pace to strengthen reading, vocabulary, comprehension and English language skills. Each child's progress is tracked, so the team can spot gaps and give extra support where it is needed.
Coding and Digital Skills
Learners are introduced to coding, computational thinking and problem-solving. Lessons build creativity, logical reasoning and confidence with technology, skills that matter more and more in school and in future careers.
Mathematics
At our after-school learning hub, children use Matific, an interactive maths platform that strengthens numeracy, understanding and problem-solving, while letting each learner progress at their own level.
Five schools. Thousands of opportunities to learn.

Around 1,300 learners benefit from DigiBus lessons every week.
By bringing the classroom directly to schools, we remove barriers to technology and educational support, so more children can take part in digital learning.
The people make the difference
Technology sits at the heart of the DigiBus, but it is the people behind it who matter most.
Together they create a welcoming, nurturing space where children feel safe and encouraged to learn. This support lets the team work closely with learners who are struggling, identify learning difficulties and give the kind of individual attention that is hard to find in overcrowded classrooms.
For some children, the DigiBus is the first place they use a computer. For others, it is where they discover they can read, solve a problem or master something they thought was out of reach.
These small achievements build confidence that reaches well beyond the bus.
Progress we can see, and progress we can measure
We believe meaningful educational programmes must show measurable progress.
Baseline assessment
Every learner is assessed to establish their starting level when they join the programme.
Ongoing tracking
Development is monitored through the digital learning platforms, so support can be targeted where it is needed.
Reading gains
Reading Eggs assessments show learners improving their reading levels and Lexile measures of reading proficiency.
Not every achievement fits in an assessment. Some of the most important changes show in the children themselves: a shy learner volunteering an answer, a child speaking English with confidence, the excitement of mastering a new skill.
We are not simply teaching children to use technology. We are helping them become confident, independent learners.
Made possible by Coronation
The Coronation DigiBus exists thanks to the generous and sustained support of Coronation Fund Managers. Since the programme began in 2022, Coronation has played a central role in expanding access to digital learning for children in Langa.
The launch of the new DigiBus in October 2026 marks another important milestone. Together with a ten-year commitment to the programme, it is a significant investment in the educational futures of children in our community.
Access to quality education should not depend on where a child grows up.
By combining technology, dedicated teaching and individual attention, the DigiBus helps children in Langa strengthen their academic foundations, discover new abilities and approach learning with confidence.
