2. ONE MAN’S JUNK IS ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE
Many of us have taken this lock-down as an opportunity to sort through cupboards.
If you have cleared out winter clothes, sporting equipment, kids games or any other household items which you no longer require, please consider donating these to VUSA. We will collect after lockdown or items can be delivered to Bishops Prep or College reception once schools reopen.
As a community organisation we try to support the whole Langa community even though our focus is children and we will find a good home for clothes of any size.
3. VUSA COACHES
This incredible team of men and women have wowed us through this crisis. The VUSA coaches and teachers reside in the Langa community. As with many organisations, we have had to reduce salaries significantly to ensure no jobs are lost. As we have mentioned previously, these staff members are more than just coaches and teachers to the children. They are also mentors and friends and as such, no task has been too big in order to protect and support the children. They have assisted at school feeding schemes, volunteered to chop veggies at Woodstock Brewery. They do fun exercises (socially distant of course) whilst the children await a meal, they feed, sterilise and act as a sounding board for the often stressed, scared and hungry kids they work with. We therefore ask, if you are able, to kindly support by providing:
4. SUPPORT OUR PARTNERS
Woodstock Brewery
Woodstock Brewery are churning out thousands of litres of soup to support vulnerable communities. They require volunteers to assist with food preparation. If you are able to assist, please contact Shelley on 0834073972.
The Picnic Company
Tammy and her team opened their kitchen during lockdown to make soup for distribution to vulnerable communities. Tammy appealed to the local community to donate soup, dry ingredients, fruit and sandwiches and VUSA children were some of the lucky beneficiaries. The Picnic Company is once again operational (although Tammy continues to distribute donations where she can). If you’re working from home, homeschooling and struggling to keep on top of the housework and the kids have had cereal or frozen pizza one night too often this week, please consider ordering from the Picnic Company’s delicious menu. https://picnics.co.za/
tlc FLOORING BLINDS & OUTDOOR
Despite suffering their own business disruption, tlc Flooring have donated a percentage of proceeds from their rug sales to the VUSA Academy. tlc have a beautiful range of indoor and outdoor rugs. Please support this small business by purchasing vouchers - items will be delivered after lock-down. For more information:

VUSA PARTNERS
Without the support of these extraordinary organisations, through the course of the year, VUSA would not have the programmes or the resources to build on in this time of crisis.
Any funds donated to this organisation and not utilised for the Covid-19 crisis will be allocated towards running of the programmes after lock-down unless otherwise specified. As a registered PBO, all contributions will be receipted with a Section 18a receipt (after lock-down).
We continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers as we navigate through these challenging times.
As always, thank you for your support.
Kind regards
Brendan, Nikki and Mak
